Feb 04,  · The real jam here is Sign of the Times, the intro to which I think was sampled for the intro of Regulate by Nate Dogg and Warren G. The rest of the album is pretty solid as well. I would give this record /5, definitely worth the fairly low price I tend to see it selling for in my area/5(76).

With Sign of the Times, Bob James, who had done so much to define so-called smooth jazz, gave his audience yet another dose of the type of pop/R&B/jazz fluff he'd been successful mildeohauhysinlpi.kyovaurilinlivagargkanewspropexti.cotently boring and mindless, the album has all of the things one expects from a Bob James recording -- dull arrangements, forgettable melodies and robotic background vocals.6/

Lurking behind these potential pop tunes (I do believe "Sing of the Times actually made it into the pop charts) lie the real treasures of this CD though. The self-penned "Enchanted Forest" and "Unicorn" are typical Bob James, deep and emotional with the ivories tinking and heartfelt. Jay Beckenstein of Spyro Gyra lends beautiful sax solos/5(6).

It simply blew me away. Even if there had not been another track on this album, I still would have bought it just for "Unicorn". Beckenstein's sax work is just flawless. He and James fit together like "hand and glove". If you ever want to know how musical genius works together between two talented minds, "Unicorn" from Sign Of The Times is the key/5(9).
